Viroqua Country Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Viroqua, Wisconsin.
Viroqua Hills golf course first opened for play in 1930.
Nestled in the heart of Vernon County, this spectacular public course offers golfers a challenge with 18 holes and 6,300 yards of scenic fairways and greens. The new nine, built in 1996, features several unforgettable holes including number 11, also known as the signature hole. It has an elevated tee box on the lip of a 90-foot drop off, a very challenging first shot indeed.
To get to the new nine, you cross through a tunnel under Highway 14. Awaiting you there are two large ponds and a beautiful waterfall, which add not only to the challenge but also to the picturesque setting.
The original course has its own unique characteristics as well, including a clubhouse overlooking a countryside of woods and hills which can be viewed from many locations throughout the course.
The fairways at Viroqua Hills golf course are tree lined but open, and the slow greens are medium-sized. There is a pond that comes into play on one hole. The terrain is rolling, but easy to walk. The signature hole is #3, a 453-yard, par 4, requiring a downhill tee shot from off an elevated tee, then an approach shot to an elevated and severely undulating green protected by a sand bunker on the right.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6291 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5150 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 8, a par-5 that plays to 526 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 110 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 2, a 498 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Viroqua Country Club is # 15, the 110 yard par-3.
